Over the past three years, I have built LG Tutoring and created this incredible community of Brooklyn students and families. I have cherished every moment. I have learned so much from each and every student and loved watching them grow as learners.
At the end of June, we will be relocating back to Boston to be closer to our family. Although we are very excited, it is very difficult for me to leave all of you, as I have become so close to many Brooklyn families and this community.
I will be continuing my work with New York families via Zoom. If you are interested in tutoring services via Zoom, please let us know, and we can try to find the best fit for you and your child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Subject Area Tutoring & Enrichment
LG Tutors have the experience and skills necessary to help your child with any subject in which they need support or could use an additional challenge. Tutors will develop lessons tailored to your child's individual needs in the areas of mathematics, reading, writing, science, social studies and more.
Many of our tutors are Orton-Gillingham trained and special education certified.
LG Tutors will help your child build confidence and prepare for any upcoming tests including NYC Gifted & Talented (OLSAT + NNAT2), ELA & Math NYS tests. Tutors will not only review practice tests but also help students develop test-taking skills.
LG Tutors specialize in supporting children with their executive functioning skills. These skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and multi-task. Children are not born with these skills—they are born with the potential to develop them.
LG Tutors help teach students how to organize, plan, manage time, maintain focus, self-assess, and study efficiently.
Our 3rd grade son has an IEP and significant attentional issues and processing delays. We enlisted Lindsey’s help to tutor him in ELA which was recently becoming more challenging for him. Lindsey quickly built rapport with him, assessed his reading level and started working with him on an Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory program. Within the first couple of months, he was successfully using phonics tools to approach new words and was starting to confidently spell words he previously would not have attempted. Our son looks forward to his sessions with Lindsey even though he acknowledges that she makes him work hard.
We are very happy with Lindsey’s work and look forward to continue working with her. I would recommend her without reservation and think she is uniquely skilled to work with children with special needs.
Barbara S. - 3rd Grade Parent
Lindsey is an educator and life-long learner. She was formerly a teacher at Mary McDowell Friends School, a school for children with language-based learning disabilities. Prior to Mary McDowell, Lindsey was a classroom teacher in a public elementary classroom in Manhattan, in both general education and gifted and talented settings. Lindsey discovered her passion when working with students individually and building upon their strengths and working through their learning challenges.
Lindsey has a Master's degree in Special Education and General Education from the Bank Street Graduate School of Education and an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California (USC). Her experiences in the areas of literacy and math, as well as executive functioning and test prep, combined with her intensive training in Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Fundations, provide a unique skill set to enhance learning for all children. Lindsey understands the importance of looking at each child as an individual and developing instruction based upon their strengths and passions.
Lindsey is a resident of the Boerum Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn. She lives with her husband, son, and her goldendoodle, Bodie Blue. She is a Boston native and a loyal Boston sports fan.
